English ফকীর লালন শাঁহ
লালন (জন্মঃ ১৭৭৪ - মৃত্যুঃ ১৭ অক্টোবর ১৮৯০ ইং) ছিলেন বহুমুখী প্রতিভার অধিকারী একজন বাঙালি; যিনি ফকির লালন, লালন সাঁই, লালন শাহ, মহাত্মা লালন ইত্যাদি নামেও পরিচিত। তিনি একাধারে একজন আধ্যাত্মিক বাউল সাধক, মানবতাবাদী, সমাজ সংস্কারক এবং দার্শনিক। তিনি অসংখ্য গানের গীতিকার, সুরকার ও গায়ক ছিলেন। লালনকে বাউল গানের অগ্রদূতদের অন্যতম একজন হিসেবে বিবেচনা করা হয় এবং ‘বাউল-সম্রাট’ হিসেবেও আখ্যায়িত করা হয়ে থাকে। তার গানের মাধ্যমেই উনিশ শতকে বাউল গান বেশ জনপ্রিয়তা অর্জন করে।
লালন ছিলেন একজন মানবতাবাদী সাধক। যিনি ধর্ম, বর্ণ, গোত্রসহ সকল প্রকার জাতিগত বিভেদ থেকে সরে এসে মানবতাকে সর্বোচ্চ স্থান দিয়েছিলেন। অসাম্প্রদায়িক এই মনোভাব থেকেই তিনি তার গান রচনা করেছেন। তার গান ও দর্শন যুগে যুগে প্রভাবিত করেছে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর, কাজী নজরুল ও অ্যালেন গিন্সবার্গের মতো বহু খ্যাতনামা কবি, সাহিত্যিক, দার্শনিক, বুদ্ধিজীবীসহ অসংখ্য মানুষকে। তার গানগুলো মূলত বাউল গান হলেও বাউল সম্প্রদায় ছাড়াও যুগে যুগে বহু সঙ্গীতশিল্পীর কণ্ঠে লালনের এই গানসমূহ উচ্চারিত হয়েছে। গান্ধীরও ২৫ বছর আগে, ভারত উপমহাদেশে সর্বপ্রথম, তাকে ‘মহাত্মা’ উপাধি দেয়া হয়েছিল।

'Lalon Sandhya' was held in Dhaka to commemorate the 136th tirodhan (passing) of Fakir Lalon Shah. Organised by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre of the Indian High Commission at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Saturday (31 October) evening, the programme was graced by India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi as chief guest.

Will Kushtia one day stand not merely as a district on the map of Bangladesh, but as an internationally recognised centre of Fakir Lalon Shah's humanist philosophy, Baul music, folk heritage and cultural tourism? The question is not new. Immersed in the message of humanity, equality and non-communalism stood the Lalon Akhrabari at Cheuriya. With thousands of bauls, sadhus, Lalon devotees and visitors in attendance, the three-day observance concluded last Monday (19 October) evening. The majar courtyard resounded with overflowing crowds, songs and devotion, discussions and heartfelt reminiscences of Lalon.

The bank of the Kaliganga, towards the end of the eighteenth century. Lalon is young still. A body scorched by smallpox lies unconscious on the riverbank; the kinsfolk have abandoned him and gone — in that age smallpox meant almost certain death, and the family had simply concluded that this body would not survive. Then a fakir couple of Cheuriya — Malam Shah and his wife Motijan — lifted the body up and nursed it back to health. And from that discarded body was born one of the subcontinent's greatest saint-poets — Fakir Lalon Shai, who, it is said, lived nearly one hundred and sixteen years.

মানবতাবাদ অতি আধুনিক দর্শন এবং আধুনিক রেনেসাঁসের ফসল। মানবতাবাদ ল্যাটিন Humanism শব্দের প্রতিশব্দ। যার অর্থ হলো মানবিক বিষয়াদির প্রতি আগ্রহ, মনুষ্যকল্যাণকর নীতিজাত দার্শনিক মতবাদ। ধর্মতত্ত্ব বাদ দিয়ে কেবল লৌকিকতার পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে মানুষের কল্যাণ অনুসন্ধানই এর প্রধানতম উদ্দেশ্য। যদিও খ্রিস্টপূর্ব পঞ্চম শতাব্দীতে গ্রিক দার্শনিক প্রোটাগোরাস প্রথম মানবতাবাদের কথা বলেন, তবু রেনেসাঁস-পূর্ব পর্যন্ত ইউরোপে এই মানবতাবাদ ততটা প্রবলভাবে চর্চিত হয়নি। রেনেসাঁসের মূলমন্ত্র হলো মানব-মহিমা, বুদ্ধি ও কষ্টনার পুনঃপ্রতিষ্ঠা ও যুক্তিবাদের মধ্যে বুদ্ধিকে মুক্ত করে দেওয়া। রেনেসাঁস মানে নতুন করে জেগে ওঠা। মানববুদ্ধির যৌক্তিক মুক্তি। রেনেসাঁসের ইতিহাস তাই নতুন করে শুরু করার ইতিহাস — বুদ্ধি ও কল্পনার মুক্তির ইতিহাস।

ফকির লালন শাঁইজি (১৭৭৪–১৮৯০) ছিলেন বাঙালি আধ্যাত্মিক নেতা, দার্শনিক, মিস্টিক কবি ও সমাজ সংস্কারক। তিনি ধর্ম ও জাতিভিত্তিক বিভাজন প্রত্যাখ্যান করে মানবতার জ্ঞান ও প্রেমের গান রচনা করতেন। তাঁর মৃত্যু হয়েছিল ১৮৯০ সালের ১৭ অক্টোবর, যা বঙ্গাব্দে ১ কার্তিক ১২৯৭ হিসেবে পালিত হয়।

ফকির লালন শাঁইজী তাঁর জীবদ্দশায় ফাল্গুন মাসের দোল পূর্ণিমার রাতে খোলা মাঠে শিষ্যদের নিয়ে সারারাত ধরে গান বাজনা করতেন। সেই ধারাবাহিকতায় এখনো লালন একাডেমী প্রতি বছর ফাল্গুন মাসের দোল পূর্ণিমার রাতে তিনদিন ব্যাপী লালন স্মরণোৎসব এর আয়োজন করে থাকে।
