লালনের গান ও দর্শনের দ্বারা অনেক বিশ্বখ্যাত কবি, সাহিত্যিক, দার্শনিক প্রভাবিত হয়েছেন। বিশ্বকবি রবীন্দ্রনাথ লালনের মৃত্যুর ২ বছর পর তার আখড়া বাড়িতে যান এবং লালনের দর্শনে প্রভাবিত হয়ে ১৫০টি গান রচনা করেন। তার বিভিন্ন বক্তৃতা ও রচনায় তিনি লালনের প্রসঙ্গ তুলে ধরেছেন। লালনের মানবতাবাদী দর্শনে প্রভাবিত হয়েছেন সাম্যবাদী কবি কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম। আমেরিকান কবি এলেন গিন্সবার্গ লালনের দর্শনে প্রভাবিত হন এবং তার রচনাবলীতেও লালনের রচনাশৈলীর অনুকরণ দেখা যায়। তিনি After Lalon নামে একটি কবিতাও রচনা করেন।
লালনের সংগীত ও ধর্ম-দর্শন নিয়ে দেশ-বিদেশে নানা গবেষণা হয়েছে ও হচ্ছে। ১৯৬৩ ছেউড়িয়ায় আখড়া বাড়ি ঘিরে লালন লোকসাহিত্য কেন্দ্র প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। এরপর লালন লোকসাহিত্য কেন্দ্রের বিলুপ্তি ঘটিয়ে ১৯৭৮ সালে শিল্পকলা একাডেমীরঅধীনে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয় লালন একাডেমী।
তার মৃত্যু দিবসে ছেউড়িয়ার আখড়ায় স্মরণ উৎসব হয়। দেশ-বিদেশের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চল থেকে অসংখ্য মানুষ লালন স্মরণোৎসব ও দোল পূর্ণিমায় এই আধ্যাত্মিক সাধকের দর্শন অনুস্মরণ করতে প্রতি বছর এখানে এসে থাকেন। ২০১০ সাল থেকে এখানে পাঁচ দিনব্যাপী উৎসব হচ্ছে। এই অনুষ্ঠানটি "লালন উৎসব" হিসেবে পরিচিত। বর্তমানে সকলের দাবি লালন উৎসব বা গ্রামীণ লালন মেলা সপ্তাহব্যাপী পরিচালনার জন্য।
রণজিৎ কুমার লালন সম্পর্কে সেনবাউল রাজা নামে একটি উপন্যাস রচনা করেন। পরেশ ভট্টাচার্য রচনা করেন বাউল রাজার প্রেম নামে একটি উপন্যাস। ভারতের বিখ্যাত কথা সাহিত্যিক সুনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় লালনের জীবনী নিয়ে রচনা করেন মনের মানুষ উপন্যাস। রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস ‘গোরা’ শুরু হয়েছে লালনের গান ‘‘খাঁচার ভিতর অচিন পাখি কেমনে আসে যায়’’।
১৯৩৬ খ্রীস্টাব্দে সুনির্মল বসু লালন ফকিরের ভিটে নামে একটি ছোট গল্প রচনা করেন। শওকত ওসমান ১৯৬৪ খ্রীস্টাব্দে রচনা করেন দুই মুসাফির নামের একটি ছোটগল্প।
লালনকে নিয়ে কয়েকটি চলচিত্র ও তথ্যচিত্র নির্মিত হয়েছে। ১৯৭২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে সৈয়দ হাসান ইমাম পরিচালনা করেন লালন ফকির চলচিত্রটি। শক্তি চট্টোপাধ্যায় ১৯৮৬ খ্রিস্টাব্দে একই নামে একটি চলচিত্র নির্মাণ করেন। ম. হামিদ ১৯৮৮ খ্রিস্টাব্দে পরিচালনা করেন তথ্যচিত্র দ্যাখে কয়জনা যা বাংলাদেশে টেলিভিশনে প্রদর্শিত হয়। তানভীর মোকাম্মেল ১৯৯৬ সালে পরিচালনা করেন তথ্যচিত্রঃ অচিন পাখি। ২০০৪ সালে তানভির মোকাম্মেলের পরিচালনায় লালন নামে একটি চলচিত্র নির্মাণ করা হয়। এছাড়া ২০১০ এ সূনীল গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়ের উপন্যাস অবলম্বনে গৌতম ঘোষ মনের মানুষ নামে একটি চলচিত্র নির্মাণ করে যা ২০১০ খ্রিস্টাব্দে ৪১তম ভারত ফিল্ম- ফ্যস্টিভ্যালে সেরা চলচ্চিত্রর পুরষ্কার লাভ করে।
রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বলেন তিনি লালনের আছে যার মনের মানুষ সে মনে এই গানে উল্লেখিত মনের মানুষ কে তা আবিস্কার করতে পেরেছেন। এ প্রসঙ্গে তিনি একটি কবিতাও রচনা করেন। যার কথা ছিল আমার প্রাণের মানুষ আছে প্রানে, তাই হেরি তায় সকলখানে...।
সমগ্র বিশ্বে, বিশেষ করে বাংলাদেশসহ সমগ্র ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে লালনের গান বেশ জনপ্রিয়। স্রোতার পছন্দ অনুসারে বিবিসি বাংলার করা সর্বকালের সেরা ২০টি বাংলা গানের তালিকায় লালনের খাঁচার ভিতর অচিন পাখি কেমনে আসে যায় গানটির অবস্থান ১৪তম। আত্মতত্ত্ব, দেহতত্ত্ব, গুরু বা মুর্শিদতত্ত্ব, প্রেম-ভক্তিতত্ত্ব, সাধনতত্ত্ব, মানুষ-পরমতত্ত্ব, আল্লা-নবীতত্ত্ব, কৃষ্ণ-গৌরতত্ত্ব এবং আরও বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে লালনের গান রয়েছে।
